This Agnes Grant I called you recently for help when we went on Cox for our three computers. We have been so busy using them we neglected to tell you the result which were excellent. We tried the long wire but a call to Linksey told Alex to install windows xp into the 98 and 'lo' we were successfull He had loaded the three computers with more ram and changed the 98 to an XP It worked Everyone is happy. mI have told my other son that he perhaps need to do that because he writes stories and his computer is getting slow. I did learn one thing though This computer had 128 but did you know tha video uses up 8 rams Amazing!! I would like to come to the meetings but Alex doesn.t get off work until 7p.m. and at my age I don't really care to drive. Anyhow Thank you again Agnes W I believe my membership is up and I hope to renew it.

I recently moved to the area - can someone let me know if there are any computer flea markets/ham fests in Vegas?

I have a lot of computer games which I am selling cheap - some are new and some slightly used. If anyone is interested in receiving a list of them, please contact me at LindaB___@aol.com. Thanks.

Comments = I don't know if this is the appropriate place but here goes. I bought a Netgear RM356 modem router on ebay. It has a password set and the only way to reset the password is by flashing the firmware. Flashing the firmware can only be done with a proprietary serial-to-rj45 cable, which didn't arrive with the unit. I'm posting here in hopes that maybe someone has this cable. I have tried building one using the pin-outs from the site but it isn't working. Please contact me if you can help.

Subject: A Big Thanks

Donna,

I would like to extend on behalf of all the members who attended the PC Training Class, A BIG thanks for the great job you did. A number of members came forward and complimented the way the presentation was done and how knowledgeable you are. One of the most important things about the class, it gave the members the feeling that our club was doing something to help them.

We held our General Membership Meeting last night and it was discussed if we wanted to hold a second session if you were available. No decision was reached but the Board will meet next week and this is on the agenda. I will come back to you after that meeting.

I am still interested in the possibility of getting on the radio to talk about our club and the police coalition we just formed. You mentioned tonight at Jitters but I have a conflict. If you can help with that, I would be grateful. Could you also send me a list of dates and location your group hosts PC classes, if you have one. I want to put this out on our web site for all to see and hopeful attend. I would also like to get some more brochures on the PC Group to hand out at our next meeting at the end of March. Let me know where I can get more.

Again, thank you for your time, it was well spent. I will send in the application today to join your group.

Regards
Ted

I need help and I don't know where to go except your club. I need information and personal help about the use of my computer. You can email me anytime. Most of the time my email works. My virus system is from 1999. Not good, I guess.

I would like to come to some meetings to so I can learn more.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hello, I am very interested in joining your computer club, however, before I submit money for dues, I would first like to attend a few meetings. Perhaps a Saturday evening get together, a General Meeting, and a few SIG groups. If this is possible, please advise where, what address I may attend the SATURDAY NITE SIG MEETING on 21 SEPTEMBER. In addition, your website doesn't seem to identify any Who's Who, however, I would enjoy an opportunity to chat with your Membership Chairperson. Thank you for your time and attention.

Hi Donna,

I really enjoyed the meeting last night @ W Charleston library. I may be interested in joining if the meetings are a little closer to my
home in the SE valley. I'll check the website.

Is there a tutorial for Excel 2000? I need to import MLS info into a workbook so I can use Docs to go on my palm m130 when showing properties, please help.

Thanks,

Donna,

My son and I came to the meeting tonight and enjoyed the Q & A with George. Liked your pig pictures!

Was really disappointed with the guy from Microsoft. I felt it was quite thoughtless for him to install a new version of a program just prior to a presentation and to be cataloguing his collection of music while attempting
to do a presentation. I sometimes wonder why Microsoft doesn't hire people like you or George who have some personality to do the presentations to the public.

Since Jason and I live in Summerlin, I think we'll check out that group next month. Jason is really looking for something a bit more techy and I've been building, rebuilding and upgrading computers since 1984 so I too would like to get involved with something at a slightly more personal and advanced level.

Thanks again for the invite!

Thanks for your input. We continue to look for another place but since we have a limited budget (yes we pay for the library!) and we need something easy to get to, it has been very difficult.

Since we are limited to time at the General meeting, (we have to leave the theater by 8:30) it is difficult -- however the August meeting is just that, get to know the SIG leaders, the Board members, and each other. We also have used the Saturday Night SIG as the social event.

#3 recommendations by members regarding repairs, etc. is an excellent idea. We will see what we can do.

The membership has advertised FREE in the Bytes if they have something for sale. Maybe we do not promote that enough and I will see how the new newsletter looks. We may need to promote those things again.

Thanks again for your input. As always, the Board Members appreciates any feedback we get.

I have very much enjoyed my membership association with the LVPCUG. The following suggestions are made as recommendations for the group.

1. Move the meeting location to a facility that has more comfortable seating.

2. Suggest we have some kind of social event for the group in order to meet the members and establish friendships and associations.

3. Suggest we add to the BYTES publication information on "good buys", "cost effective vendors", "reasonable computer repair" vendors that are great at trouble shooting on site solutions for the membership.

4. Our members must have more things for sale as we are all upgrading from time to time.

5. Should any member want to donate computer equipment, provide suggestions.

Many thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Harold Brown

Hi Frank,

We use the 8.5 x 14 to print the newsletter, however, as we convert the file so it can be read with Adobe Reader, we must lose a little of the margins or something. I know we use the standard size to print the Bytes. Our printer works with us to keep our costs down.

Dear Editor:

Thanks for including my article in the April Bulletin, regarding Compuserve and AOL interoperability. See page 18.

I am curious about the format of the LVPCUG "Bytes" magazine. It uses a paper size of 8-1/2 by 13-1/2, rather than the legal paper size of 8-1/2 by 14.

Isn't that more costly?

Sincerely,

I like the looks of the new web site and a change is good. You are a true webmaster! I am Susie, I live in Winter Haven , Florida and I have a computer group here. We have an InFocus Projector, IBM Notebook for our classes. Our classes are not as large as yours, we average 15 people.

Take care. I will be back....Susie
