In Memoriam

It is with extreme sorrow that we deliver news of the death of Bill Seugling, who died December 5th, 2011.  He was an LVPCUG member since April, 1997, and attended almost every SIG and general meeting, only missing those not permitted by his health.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Seugling.

Special Message from The Executive Board

Returns of the CONSENT OF MEMBER OF LAS VEGAS PC USERS GROUP TO ACTION TAKEN WITHOUT MEETING have been reviewed by legal counsel.  A majority of 53% of LVPCUG members entitled to vote approved the Consent to the Board's resolution and dissolution of the Corporation.  There were 36 Consent forms signed by members no later than September 30, 2011. Of these, 26 members signed the Consent in favor of the resolution. While it was not necessary to respond otherwise, 10 members actually did indicate their disapproval. Nonetheless, the majority of the 49 eligible voting members did approve. Therefore, the Board will move forward with dissolution of the corporation. Many thanks to everyone for their prompt response.

Technology@Sea Bahamas Cruise

January 23-27, 2012

The Florida Association of Computer User Groups (FACUG) is announcing the 2012 FACUG Technology Conference@Sea Bahamas Cruise.  It will depart from the Port of Miami on Monday, January 23, 2012 and return Friday, January 27, 2012.  They've extended an invitation to us to join them for what is sure to be a fun experience.

Your cost minus the $45 FACUG early-bird incentive refund of your registration fee will effectively reduce the rate to $249/person + tips for an interior cabin which includes almost $200 in port charges and government taxes that everyone must pay.  That comes to about $50/day for five days for unlimited food, lodging, entertainment and two cocktail parties. There isn't a better bargain around.

The highly-discounted FACUG early-bird rate is valid only until May 15, 2011 or until all allocated cabins are reserved, whichever occurs first.  The second person in the cabin will pay only a $25 conference fee during the early-bird time, even though the FACUG early-bird discount for conference attendees is $45/person until May 15. All who register for the conference will have full access to all programs.

The cruise will include stops at Grand Bahamas Island, Great Stirrup Cay, and Nassau and will last 5 days/4 nights (Monday to Friday).  APCUG, the Association of  PC Users Groups, will join us and hold their annual meeting aboard the Norwegian Sky.  APCUG is the largest computer and technology user group association in the world.  There will be two complimentary cocktail parties, and programs that appeal to spouses, and non-technology presentations in addition to the usual technology fare.

If you are interested in sailing at the above early-bird rates, you need to first go to their web site at www.facug.org to register for the conference.  Then you will be asked to call Norwegian Cruise Line directly using the access information found on their website to book your cabin by May 15 with a $100/person deposit that is refundable until the fall.  Balance is due 90 days prior to sailing. Full cruise refund can be obtained until 70 days before sailing.

The above information was provided by Sam Wexler, President of the Florida Association of Computer User Groups, and he can be contacted at president@facug.org
